
Well, Rangers have done it.
It’s been a long – very long – 10 years for the Ibrox club, but they’re back at the top of Scottish football.
Celtic’s 0-0 draw away to Dundee United today confirmed Rangers as title winners for the 2020-21 campaign.
The Gers have clinched a 55th league title and although their Old Firm rivals have been horrendous all season, Steven Gerrard’s side have been ridiculously consistent.
So far, Rangers have won 28 and drawn four of their 32 Premiership outings, meaning they’re yet to lose a league game this season.
It seems a long time ago that Joey Barton was on the light Blues’ books for a couple of months of the 2016-17 campaign, before a shock exit from Glasgow.
But the Liverpudlian has clearly retained an affinity for Rangers, because here’s how he reacted to the achievement on Twitter this afternoon:
Gerrard’s side have a trip to Parkhead penciled in for March 21 and it’ll be fascinating to see whether the Bhoys give the newly-crowned champions a guard of honour.
