Harry Redknapp has left Birmingham City in 23rd place in the Championship table.

Joey Barton has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 18th September, that he finds it sad that Harry Redknapp has lost his job at Birmingham City.

Barton claims that Redknapp did a good job at Birmingham last term, when he saved the Blues from relegation.

However, a poor start to the new campaign has seen Birmingham make yet another change in the managerial hot seat at St. Andrews.

Redknapp lost his job following Birmingham’s defeat to Preston North End at the weekend.

And Barton said: “I think he did a good job in keeping them up last year and you’d expect them to kick on. I don’t think he got the investment he was expecting. It’s sad to see it end that way, because it’s a good club Birmingham.”

Redknapp leaves Birmingham with the Midlands club sitting in 23rd place in the Championship table, after a disappointing opening to the new campaign.

Birmingham have won just once in the league so far this season, and their performances have been well below par.

Redknapp has stated that he will not take another managerial job, following his departure from Blues.

As things stand, Aitor Karanka is the favourite to take over as the next manager of Birmingham.
