Ryan Taylor, Barton’s old Newcastle United colleague, and Ross Wallace, most recently of Sheffield Wednesday, have been on trial at Fleetwood.

The Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has confirmed his interest in signing Ryan Taylor, his old Newcastle United teammate, as well as Ross Wallace, the former Sheffield Wednesday winger.
Both Taylor and Wallace, who left Atletico de Kolkata and Sheffield Wednesday respectively ahead of the summer transfer deadline and can therefore move on free transfers, have been on trial at Fleetwood.
And speaking to the Blackpool Gazette on Thursday, Barton revealed his intention to discuss full-time deals for the pair this week.
“We are going to discuss with them where we think there is a position for them,” said the former Newcastle midfielder turned Cod Army boss. “Both lads have been very good in the dressing room and on the training pitch.
“They have had fantastic careers and you want to see that desire and that hunger.
“After all they have achieved in the game, they have both shown they still have a desire and hunger to do things in their career. “We will sit down and have a discussion, probably at the end of the week.
“We’ll see where they are at and what their feeling is towards us, and if we can do something, fantastic.
“They are both good players. If you can bring good players to your group, then I think you have to take the opportunity to do that. “We’d like to do something because they are good players and hopefully we can get something sorted.”

Barton played alongside Taylor, a fellow Liverpudlian, for two-and-a-half seasons at Newcastle, with whom they won the Championship title in 2009-10.
But the 36-year-old’s career was until now yet to cross paths with that of Wallace, who was a popular figure at Sheffield Wednesday.

Barton’s Fleetwood are currently eighth in the League One standings – two points shy of the play-off positions.
