Joey Barton suggests Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane might be doubting his future in North London.

Joey Barton has suggested on talkSPORT’s Sports Breakfast show, broadcast on January 22, that Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United might have stoked Harry Kane’s appetite for a big-money departure from Tottenham Hotspur.

Sanchez joined the Red Devils on Monday in a deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way and sign for Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal.

Spurs look to have regressed from last season and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are fifth in the Premier League, two points ahead of the Gunners and three behind Liverpool in the race for Champions League qualification.

Kane, on the other hand, is going from strength to strength and has netted 29 goals in all competitions this season.

Inevitably, there is speculation about his long-term future and The Times reported that Real Madrid are willing to pay a massive £200 million to sign him in the summer.

And Barton believes that the 24-year-old might just be thinking about the Spanish capital in light of Sanchez’s lucrative move to Old Trafford.

He said on talkSPORT on Monday: “When you’re in the Spurs dressing room and you see everyone fighting it out for Alexis Sanchez. You’re Harry Kane and you’re linked with Real Madrid, it must make you think ‘Am I in the right spot here? Are we really going to challenge for trophies?’ And maybe it just puts that little element of doubt in there.”
