Lewie Coyle joined Fleetwood Town on loan from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.
Coyle, who can operate as a right-back or as a right wing-back, joined League One outfit Fleetwood on loan from Championship side Leeds in the summer transfer window.
This is the 23-year-old’s second loan spell at the Highbury Stadium, and the youngster is scheduled to remain at the club until January 6.
Fleetwood manager Barton has spoken highly of Coyle, and the former Rangers and Queens Park Rangers manager has suggested that he would like the right-back to be in his team beyond January.
Barton told The Blackpool Gazette about Coyle: “You are better speaking with Bielsa and Lewie about that because that is stuff that is out of my control.
“For us he has been first class; he trains properly, he is willing to learn, open all ears and is keen on developing as a player.
“For me he is a pleasure to work with, someone who you would love at your football club.
“If that is with Leeds then great, they have got a good player. If not then we are more than happy to have him here because he has been top class.”
Fleetwood Town stay?
Given Leeds’s injuries in defence, head coach Marcelo Bielsa may feel the need to have Coyle in his squad for the second half of the season.
However, the 23-year-old will be used as cover, and once everyone is fully fit, he will struggle for playing time at Elland Road.
Perhaps it would be best for Coyle if he is allowed to carry on playing for Fleetwood for the rest of the season.
