West Ham United are yet to win a match so far this season.

Joey Barton has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 21st August, that William Carvalho would be a good addition for West Ham United.

Sky Sports claim that West Ham are working on a deal to sign the powerful midfielder from Sporting Libson.

And Barton believes that Carvalho will add some much needed physicality to the Hammers’ midfield ranks.

“I see Noble and the young boy in there, and while they are decent players, I don’t think they have the presence that Carvalho would add in there,” Barton said.

West Ham have started the new campaign poorly, and have failed to pick up a point in either of their first two matches.

The Hammers were beaten by Manchester United on opening day, and then lost to Southampton most recently.

Declan Rice and Mark Noble were selected to start for West Ham against Southampton, but could not stop Bilic’s side from slipping to a 3-2 defeat.

The pressure is now starting to grow on Bilic, with the Hammers still searching for the winning formula.

West Ham’s next Premier League match comes against Newcastle United, in what looks set to be a huge contest for both sides.
