Liverpool were expected to win against Swansea City on Monday evening following their stunning 4-3 victory over Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League last weekend.

Swansea are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment, while the Reds are in a strong position to finish in the Champions League places this season.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side slumped to a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Swans at the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The Welsh club played a very defensive game and scored the only goal of the match through Alfie Mawson in the 40th minute.

The result means that Liverpool are now fourth in the Premier League table with 47 points from 24 matches.

The Merseyside outfit are just two points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and only three points behind third-placed Chelsea.

Former Newcastle United and Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to the defeat for Liverpool, and so has ex-Red striker John Aldridge.
