Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles’ current contract at Goodison Park is due to expire at the end of next season.
Joel Robles has admitted to IBTimes that he has doubts over signing a new contract with Everton.
Robles has just one more year left on his current deal with the Toffees, and is expected to be handed a new contract in the near future.
However, the Spaniard has suggested that he will seek assurances from Ronald Koeman before committing his future to the Toffees.
“Now in summer we will see what happens,” Robles admitted. “I only have one year left in my contract and I have to sit down with the club to make a decision.
“I think I have to make a good decision. I’ve been already here during four years fighting to be the number one and now the truth is that I am not very clear what will happen in the future. I have certain doubts. We will have to sit down with the club and see what happens.”
Robles has been Everton’s number one for much of this season, with the former Wigan man being selected ahead of Maarten Stekelenburg recently.
However, Everton are expected to bring in a new stopper this summer – as Koeman looks to strengthen.
There are still some doubts over Robles’ ability to be a permanent number one at the top level.
And Everton are believed to be attempting to snap up a new stopper, which could knock Robles down the pecking order at Goodison Park.
