Joel Matip labelled Leeds United as ‘dangerous’ following their 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool on Wednesday night at Anfield, as he told Premier League Productions.

When the opposition centre-back is marauding up the pitch like he is Franz Beckenbauer in his pomp and attacking the near post and finishing like Robbie Fowler, then as a team you know you have problems.

Many already knew that Leeds United’s tap is leaking from all parts and it’s pretty hard to stop it.

But to be hit for six by Liverpool, despite prior warnings, has just further dampened the mood in the Yorkshire camp and worried many that the Whites could drop to England’s second-tier.

Despite that loss, Matip, who scored Liverpool’s second of the evening, lauded the quality and threat Leeds bring to the table.

“They are always dangerous,” said Matip. “They always have chances with the quality that they have.

“Even with the style that they play, they are a threat for every team and the intensity is always high. But we deal with it quite good.”

The problem facing Leeds now is that they aren’t going to stop conceding goals from now until the end of the season, so it’s a case of their attackers doing the job.

As harsh as that may sound, they are way too fragile at the back for Bielsa and his players to start producing defensive performance Bruno Lage’s Wolves are putting up this term.

The quicker the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper return, the more chance they have of staying up.

English football needs a club the size, character and power of Leeds in the top-tier, dropping down again would just be a disaster.
