Joel Embiid drops shocking statement on leaked 76ers meeting: ‘You can’t expect me…’

Joel Embiid has made a surprising revelation in an interview ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.

This will be Embiid’s 10th year in the league, and there will be plenty of attention on him after a disappointing finish to last season. The 2022-23 NBA MVP played only 19 games, struggling with multiple injuries throughout the year.

In addition to his injury problems, the Sixers also faced criticism online following leaked details from a closed-door meeting. During that session, Tyrese Maxey reportedly accused Embiid of negatively influencing team morale.

The meeting happened in November 2024, during a rough stretch where the 76ers were struggling with a 2-11 record.

Now, Embiid has spoken up about who he believes was behind the leak of that meeting.

“I know who leaked it,” Embiid told Dotun Akintoye of ESPN.

“Yeah, but I’m not going to [say] the past is the past. The one thing I’ll say is, it’s hard being around people who do those sorts of stuff.

He added: “That goes back to the trust thing. Once you cross that, you can’t expect me to be part of a team meeting again. That’s just not going to happen.”

Joel Embiid comments on whether the leaker remains with the 76ers

Embiid has made it clear that he wants to move on from what happened, but there’s still an obvious question: is the person who broke that trust still part of the team?

Akintoye put it to him directly: “The way you’re talking, it sounds like this person is still around.” Embiid replied: “I don’t know.”

The ESPN reporter pressed again, but Embiid didn’t budge.

“Free agency just started. I don’t know what’s going on,” he said.

So, does that mean the player might have moved on? Embiid wouldn’t go that far either.

“No. There’s a chance they’re still around,” he finished.

This offseason, Philadelphia has brought back Kyle Lowry, Eric Gordon and Justin Edwards. On the other hand, Guerschon Yabusele left as a free agent.

If one of them was behind the leak, only Embiid would know for sure.
