The Stoke City winger played for Nottingham Forest before joining Derby County.
Joe Worrall was still a youth team player when Thomas Ince was on loan at Nottingham Forest, before the latter joined the Reds’ rivals Derby County.
But any relationship between the two men looks to be long gone now.
Now a Stoke City player – having moved from Derby to Huddersfield Town in the meantime – Ince was back at the City Ground on Tuesday, where he appeared as a second half substitute in a 3-2 defeat for his side.
And despite being on the pitch for barely 35 minutes, no Stoke or Nottingham Forest player was fouled more times than the Potters winger (four – tied with teammate Bojan Krkic).
According to Forest’s official Twitter account, one of those saw Ince ‘clattered into’ by Danny Fox, resulting in a yellow card for the Reds defender.
And Worrall, who is currently on loan to Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers, appeared to enjoy that particular post, which now appears in his ‘liked tweets’.
Nottingham Forest held off a late Stoke fightback to secure a 3-2 victory and progression to the EFL Cup fourth round.
