Joe Rogan thinks there’s only one way to finally settle the sport’s most bitter rivalry.

The tension between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov has been simmering for a decade now, only intensifying since their clash at UFC 229 back in October 2018. Following Khabib’s submission victory, chaos erupted as both camps spilled into a post-fight brawl.

The animosity flared up again recently when Dillon Danis was attacked while sitting cageside at UFC 322.

Dillon Danis, who has long been part of Conor McGregor’s camp, was often blamed for sparking the chaos that unfolded after UFC 229.

Following his win over McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped out of the Octagon to confront Danis, escalating tensions further.

Seven years later, during UFC 322, members of Nurmagomedov’s team targeted Danis again, this time ahead of Islam Makhachev’s welterweight title fight against Jack Della Maddalena.

“They just f—ed Dillon Danis up this past weekend,” Rogan said on a recent episode of his podcast. “Did you see that? They don’t forget.”

The topic then shifted to what it would take for the feud between McGregor and Nurmagomedov to finally be put to rest.

“It would have to be in private, and he would have to really mean it,” Rogan replied when asked by guest Brian Simpson if an apology could resolve things. “And you’d have to convince Khabib that you really mean it because he just doesn’t play that game. That talking s— to sell a fight, he doesn’t play that game.”

Why did Dillon Danis get jumped?

Following UFC 322, Islam Makhachev’s coach explained what sparked the incident. Javier Mendez said the attack was a reaction to Danis mocking the Muslim faith, something Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team hold in high regard.

Mendez went on: “He was sitting in the fighter’s section and sitting where Team Khabib was to boot. I mean, come on, dude! You know you’re asking for trouble.

“Then they showed me videos of what he was showing. He was showing Ali [Abdelaziz] and Islam in a relationship-type embrace. Then he was doing things with a p— star and Islam embracing. And then he’s talking crap on other things.”

“What do you expect when you do that? You go and sit with the guys, and you’re riling them up with big, huge disrespect,” said Mendez. Mendez finished by saying: “Stop picking on people’s religion, man. That’s what he was doing; he was making fun of it.”
