Joe Powell made his senior debut for West Ham United in their Carabao Cup victory on Wednesday night.

Joe Powell has taken to Twitter after making his senior debut for West Ham in the 8-0 thrashing of Macclesfield at the London Stadium on Wednesday night that saw the Hammers book their place in the fourth round of the competition – and a number of Irons fans were quick to respond to the youngster.
Manuel Pellegrini picked a youthful matchday squad against the League Two side, with Grady Diangana starting and Powell being handed a spot on the bench alongside Conor Coventry.
Both men would be introduced as the Hammers made short work of the Football League’s bottom side. After 29 minutes of resistance, Macclesfield found themselves 3-0 down five minutes before the break with Michail Antonio, Robert Snodgrass and Lucas Perez all getting onto the scoresheet.
Ryan Fredericks and Angelo Ogbonna would make the score 5-0 within 10 minutes of the restart, before Snodgrass made it six and Diangana marked his debut with a brace to complete the rout.

Both of Diangana’s goals were set up by fellow academy graduate Powell, who enjoyed a superb night once he came onto the pitch with around half an hour to go.
The 19-year-old looked dangerous and caused plenty of problems. And his tweet after the game prompted a number of fans to laud the academy graduate for his display on an excellent night for the Hammers and their academy.

Here is Powell’s tweet as well as some of the responses…
