Joe Powell has left West Ham United on loan for the rest of the season.

Joe Powell has taken to Twitter to express his excitement after completing his loan move from West Ham to Northampton Town on Monday.

Powell has been in and around the first-team at the London Stadium this term, making his senior debut in the 8-0 Carabao Cup win against Macclesfield earlier in the campaign. He provided two assists in the win.

But with the midfielder predominantly featuring for the under-23 side this season, he has been given the green light to leave on loan, with the Cobblers taking him on a temporary basis until the summer.

Powell has really been catching the eye for the youngsters this year, with seven goals and six assists in 12 games in Premier League 2, and he will be looking to enhance his reputation during his time in League Two.

And after sealing his move, he took to social media to comment on the transfer…

While the 20-year-old may perhaps be feeling a bit of pressure if he has his sights set on making it into Manuel Pellegrini’s squad on a regular basis in the future, he can certainly take heart from the cluster of exciting youngsters that are now proving to be important members of the first-team this season.

He may have to do very well while he is away to really send a message to Pellegrini. But his performances this season suggest that this move could prove to be a defining one in his career.
