QPR’s goalkeeper Joe Lumley has been in brilliant form this season, and has opened to The Telegraph up about his international aspirations.

After a chorus of boo’s rang around Loftus Road with the Queens Park Rangers truly humbled by Bristol City back in August, R’s boss Steve McClaren opted to make a swift tactical change which has proven nothing short of a masterstroke.
Matt Ingram, who for QPR’s first four games this season was selected as McClaren’s no.1, was outed after conceding 13 goals in those fixtures. Understudy Joe Lumley took the gloves.
The latter has gone on to record seven clean sheets in his last 12 Championship appearances with a series of top displays, and even went on to win the supporters Player of the Month award for October – not bad for somebody who was plying his trade on loan in League One last season.

“It’s hard not to think about that, really – and now especially. Southgate takes a different approach, he’s bringing a lot of youngsters. He’s got Jack Butland in the squad regularly – he’s a different class – and he’s playing in the Championship.

“A lot of Championship players are getting into the England squad which is brilliant because it gives you that confidence to think I’ve got a chance to impress here’, he told the newspaper.
Lumley is in action against Brentford next weekend and although he failed to register his fourth consecutive clean sheet against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
