The lifelong Aston Villa fan is being subjected to appeals to join the Villa Park club on Twitter.

Some Aston Villa fans on Twitter are telling Joe Lolley to sign for them this summer.

The 26-year-old was named as Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Year on Friday.

Lolley, a boyhood Aston Villa supporter, took to Twitter and refused to thank his team-mates in a superb tongue-in-cheek post.

The midfielder has managed 10 goals and set up another 11 in 45 Championship games for Nottingham Forest this season.

The Reds won’t be going up to the Premier League, but the Villans might if they win the playoff.

And fans of the West Midlands club would love to see one of their own jump aboard when the transfer window opens.

If Dean Smith is interested, he’ll have competition.

According to The Daily Mail, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are fans of Lolley. Palace, in particular, are a top-flight club and if Aston Villa don’t go up then they should fear competition from Eagles boss Roy Hodgson.

Whatever happens, he might not be at the City Ground for long.
