Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is one of the front runners to succeed Pedro Caixinha at Rangers.

Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis has told Rangers to forget about luring manager Derek McInnes to Ibrox after he emerged as one of the front runners to replace Pedro Caixinha.
Rangers sacked Caixinha on Thursday after failing to hold onto a narrow 1-0 lead against Kilmarnock on Wednesday night, as ex-Gers winger Chris Burke scored a 95th-minute equaliser.
McInnes brought Lewis to Pittodrie in 2016 and the English stopper has thrived north of the border since then, keeping 28 clean sheets in 69 league and cup appearances for the Dons.
The Scottish Sun claim that McInnes is Rangers’ first choice to replace Caixinha, with a compensation bill said to cost around £1.5million.

“I’m sure he will be flattered by the interest but he has shown his commitment to the club in the summer and we’re all pleased to back him,” Lewis said.
“The manager has been massive for me. He gave me the confidence when I first came here.
“We don’t want to lose the manager. He’s a great manager. He has done an amazing job here. And you can see he is committed to the cause after the advances from clubs in the summer.”
McInnes is just one of a handful of names that have been mentioned, with Billy Davies, Ally McCoist and Alex McLeish all being linked as well as interim boss Graeme Murty.

The 46-year-old wore the blue of Rangers during his playing career, making 53 appearances in all competitions during a five-year spell between 1995 and 2000.
However, it remains to be seen if McInnes will be Rangers’ first choice, with three years still remaining on his contract at Pittodrie.
