Joe Ledley spent part of Monday teasing fans of his former club, Celtic.

Ledley, who has been without a club since leaving Derby County in January, had several Bhoys supporters wondering about a possible return to Celtic Park, after he posted the following image on Twitter.

It showed an airport departure board with flights to both Glasgow and Austria, where Celtic are currently training, with Ledley writing: “, tagging his agents.

But it appears the midfielder may have been bound for the Netherlands instead.

The Dutch newspaper, 1 Limburg, reports that Ledley ‘visited (Fortuna) Sittard for a while and spoke to technical manager Sjoerd Ars in Maastricht’.

Celtic are in the market for a new central midfielder having seen a move for David Turnbull of Mothewell collapse over an unforeseen medical issue.
