Joe Hart has claimed that Gareth Bale often subjects Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Joe Rodon to awful ‘abuse’ behind the scenes in North London.
Despite only playing a handful of Premier League games since returning to Spurs on loan last summer, Bale looks a much happier figure away from the pitch than he did at Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old is regularly seen sharing a laugh and a joke with his Tottenham colleagues at Hotspur Way during Jose Mourinho’s training sessions.
And it would appear as if Rodon, an £11 million signing by the Lilywhites from Swansea City this past summer, is often the victim of the Welshman’s banter.
Bale said to the club’s official Twitter account when asked who gets teased the most: “Joe Rodon get a bit. The Roadman gets a bit.”
Hart responded: “Only from you. You and Ben [Davies] just abuse him.”
Bale, Davies and Rodon are all Wales internationals and therefore it’s little surprise that the trio get on so well with one another.
On the pitch, Bale has shown promising signs of getting back to his best this past week.
First, he rolled back the years with a brilliant goal in the Europa League win over Wolfsberger on Thursday, having impressed in a cameo against Manchester City last weekend.
Bale’s form since his fairytale return has been no laughing matter but hopefully for him and Mourinho’s side, he is turning a corner in that regard.
