Joe Gomez has vowed to come back better and stronger than ever in a social media post after going down with a serious injury while on international duty.

The Liverpool defender had to undergo surgery for an issue sustained in England training this week, and it’s likely that he’ll miss a good portion of the remainder of this season.

It’s come at the worst possible time as well, with Virgil van Dijk set to miss a large portion of the season, Gomez was being relied upon as the Reds’ first-choice centre-half, but his injury has left them in dire straits.

Fortunately, Gomez’s tweet acts as a reminder that brighter days are ahead for the Reds.

The centre-back is right, he has been here before, and he has always managed to come back better than ever, morphing into one of the country’s best defenders despite facing a litany of injury issues.

Gomez did his cruciate ligaments during his first season at Anfield, but that didn’t stop him from becoming one half of the strongest centre-back pairing in the country.

We can only hope that he’ll pick up where he left off upon his return.
