Highly-rated defender Kris Moore has put pen to paper on professional terms at Leeds United – signing a two-and-a-half-year deal until June 2024. Plenty have responded, after the centre-back posted on Instagram.

Moore, 18, has been a regular for the club’s Under-23 side under Mark Jackson this season – having broken into the team towards the end of last season. He has missed just two of 16 Premier League 2 matches in 21-22.

Starring either at centre-back, on the right of a back three or even at right-back, Moore has shown quality – but also versatility. The latter being an important trait if he is to break into Marcelo Bielsa’s senior side.

While Moore is yet to make his senior debut, he has been named on the Leeds bench three times – including Sunday’s FA Cup loss to West Ham. He was also in the squad for the win over Burnley, and defeat to Arsenal.

Having penned a deal until June 2024 – his first professional contract at Leeds – Moore underlined his delight with a post on Instagram. The defender spoke of his pride at signing a deal with his “boyhood club”.

Moore is next likely to be in action in just under a week’s time, when the 23’s play host to Derby County. The Whites are currently battling to avoid relegation, having gained promotion to the top tier of PL2 last season.

But he could feature on the bench once again this weekend, with Leeds lacking in numbers. Joe Gelhardt, who is currently injured, and the club’s only January recruit, Mateo Fernandez, reacted to his post on Instagram.
