Liverpool and Everton are reportedly pushing for Wigan Athletic striker Joe Gelhardt.

According to TEAMtalk, Wigan Athletic striker Joe Gelhardt must now decide whether to join Everton or Liverpool, with both teams moving for him.
Gelhardt, 17, has been coming up through the ranks with the Latics, and has already emerged into Paul Cook’s first team at the DW Stadium.
The striker has made four Championship appearances this season, and scored in the 2-2 draw at Hull City last month, earning plaudits for his impact.
Unsurprisingly, Gelhardt is earning major interest, and it seems that Merseyside’s two biggest clubs are leading the way for his signature.
It’s claimed that Everton and Liverpool have stepped up their interest in the striker, to the point where he’s now picking which club to join in 2020.
That seems a little premature given the lack of detail in the report in terms of a fee, but as a Liverpool-born attacker, a move back home wouldn’t be a shock.

If it really is a straight fight between those two clubs, then Liverpool may well feel they’re favourites given that the Daily Mail claim Gelhardt is a boyhood Liverpool fan.
Everton will still hope to tempt Gelhardt to Goodison Park, but with fellow striker Bobby Duncan gone from Liverpool, Gelhardt heading to Anfield seems to be the more likely outcome.
