Preston’s Joe Garner celebrates scoring their first goal with a penalty
New Rangers signing Joe Garner has told the Daily Mail that he had to make the move to Ibrox as it was his last chance of getting to play for a big club.
The striker joined Mark Warburton’s side last week, becoming their tenth signing of the summer transfer window.
He has been signed to add quality to their forward line and more importantly provide competition to current star Martyn Waghorn.
The striker has already expressed his delight at completing the move to Glasgow, and now he has explained he had to make the switch as it represented his last chance to join a big club.
“I’ve played at massive clubs before like Nottingham Forest but I think Rangers is the biggest I’ve played for,” he told the Daily Mail.
“I think it would be fair to say that, at 28, I had to grasp this opportunity because I wasn’t sure if I’d get another like it.”

Garner will now be hoping he can be as big a success with Rangers as he was during his time at Preston.
There is no denying that Mark Warburton’s side could do with him hitting the ground running, having found the Scottish Premiership a tough prospect so far.
With rivals Celtic scoring freely and looking stronger under Brendan Rodgers, they will need to try and match them and will be hoping to see Garner chip in with as many as possible.
