Arsenal should have signed Gary Cahill before he joined Crystal Palace, suggests Joe Cole.

Arsenal signed Brazil international central defender Luiz from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2019 for a fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £7 million.
Cahill parted company with the Blues at the end of last season and joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer.
Former Chelsea and Liverpool player Cole has suggested that Arsenal should have signed the 33-year-old Englishman instead of the 32-year-old Brazilian.
The Mirror quotes Cole as saying: “Right, they have gone to get David Luiz, which may or may not work out for them – I’m not sure.
“Where did they need to spend the money? Take the Pepe money, £70 million or something like that. He might come good. He’s a very talented player there is no doubting that – he’s a very good player.
“But Gary Cahill, for instance, has gone to Crystal Palace and has been very good. A good solid Premier League player who we know would be able to understand the game.”

Top-four challenge
While Cahill has been very good for Palace, Luiz has had his moments and has yet to be fully convincing.
Arsenal are still very much among the favourites to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, while the Eagles are just a point behind them.
