Joe Cole believes Arsenal ‘could easily’ win the Premier League title this season after Mikel Arteta’s side regained top spot. But Chelsea must ‘get their act together’ to contend again.

The Gunners lead Manchester City by two points entering this weekend in their search for a first title in 19 years. Arteta’s squad also have one game in hand over Pep Guardiola’s team which they will play on Wednesday. But they first visit Leicester City this Saturday at 15:00.

Manchester City wasted a chance to put pressure on Arsenal after overtaking the Gunners with a win in north London. Guardiola’s squad let slip a lead at Nottingham Forest to draw 1-1 last week. Arsenal regained first place with a 4-2 come-from-behind win at Aston Villa.

Arsenal will now attempt to build a lead over Manchester City when they visit Leicester on Saturday. While Guardiola’s squad are also in action on Saturday at AFC Bournemouth in a 17:30 kick-off. The Gunners host Everton on Wednesday for Arteta’s team’s game in hand.

A Premier League title this term for Arsenal would be the Emirates Stadium natives’ first in 19 years. Arsene Wenger oversaw their last top-flight championship in 2003/04 during the Invincibles season at Highbury. While Manchester City have won four of the past five titles.

Joe Cole feels Arsenal ‘could easily’ win the Premier League title this term

While Arsenal’s win at Aston Villa last Saturday ended a three-game winless run, Cole feels Arteta’s team ‘could easily’ win the Premier League title this season. His belief in the north London club is in stark contrast to Chelsea, with whom the midfielder played seven years.

“They’ve fallen well below Man City’s standards,” Cole told 90min about Chelsea so far this term. “Arsenal are in a different stage of their development. So, they’re back up there and they could easily win the league.

“Manchester United – for all the messing about they’ve done over the last decade – they seem to be getting their act together. So, Chelsea need to get their act together across the whole of the club.”

Chelsea visit Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday sitting just 10th in the table after 23 games so far this season. The Stamford Bridge natives have won just eight and drawn seven fixtures, as well. While Graham Potter has five wins from 17 games since taking over in September.
