West Ham United defender Declan Rice seriously impressed against Tottenham Hotspur last night.

Joe Cole has told Sky Sports, during their coverage of West Ham United’s match against Tottenham Hotspur, that he believes David Moyes is the perfect manager for Declan Rice.

Rice was handed a starting role for West Ham last night, and he impressed as his side frustrated Tottenham.

West Ham managed to pick up a 1-1 draw, despite being put on the back foot for much of the contest.

Rice looked totally comfortable in West Ham’s defence, and Cole believes that the 18-year-old has the ability to become a first-team regular at the London Stadium.

“I think he’s got the perfect manager in David Moyes,” Cole said.

“He’ll get bodies around him and learn how to defend. It’s been a long time since they got a youngster through and he’s stayed there. This kid here, looking at him, he could not only just get in, but he could get in and stay in.”

Rice has now made 10 Premier League appearances this season, and appears to be one of the best prospects breaking through in England.

Rice is right on the verge of becoming an establish member of West Ham’s defence, and his performance last night is sure to have raised eyebrows.

Rice dealt well with the threat of Harry Kane, as West Ham’s impressive recent form continued.

The Hammers are now up to 15th place in the Premier League table, two points above the drop zone.
