Joe Bennett is returning to Aston Villa after Sheffield Wednesday’s defeat to Hull City in the Championship playoff final.

Aston Villa-owned defender Joe Bennett has suggested on social networking site Twitter that he would like to play for Sheffield Wednesday next season.
Bennett, who has been on the books of Villa since 2012, played on loan for Wednesday during the second half of the 2015-16 season.
The 26-year-old left-back joined the Owls on loan from the Villans in the January transfer window, but he could not play a massive role in Wednesday’s match to the Championship playoff final due to injury.

In three Championship appearances for the Owls, the former England Under-21 international defender created three chances, had a pass accuracy of 83%, and won two headers, two dribbles and eight tackles.
Bennett is returning to his parent club Villa, with whom he has a contract until June 2017, but he has suggested on Twitter that he would love to play for Carlos Carvalhal’s side again next season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has admitted on Twitter his disappointment at his side’s failure to win the Championship playoff final.
The Owls lost 1-0 to Hull City at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday evening, thanks to a stunning strike from Mohamed Diame in the 72nd minute.
