Joe Aribo was a player in demand in the summer transfer window, with Aston Villa and Southampton among the clubs reported to be interested in the midfielder, but he joined Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers instead.
According to The Herald, Southampton and Villa wanted to sign the 22-year-old midfielder, while The Express has claimed that Rangers’ bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic were interested in the Englishman.
It was Rangers who won the race to the signature of the midfielder and secured his services on a free transfer following his departure from Charlton Athletic in England at the end of last season.
Aribo has explained his decision to join Rangers, stating why he choose the Gers, and his comments will make the Ibrox faithful proud.
Aribo told The Express: “It’s a dream come true to play for a club the size of Rangers. I chose Rangers because of the size of the club. But also because of the manager.
“I had a chat with him and he persuaded me. He said this was the best place for me and I trusted him.”

Good signing for Rangers?
Aribo is a very good and promising young midfielder who can only get better in the coming years, and the former Charlton star is a good signing for Rangers in the summer transfer window.
The Gers do need to have more dynamic in their midfield department, and Aribo does provide exactly that.
Rangers are building a strong team to challenge bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
