Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson seems to rate Everton youngster Kieran Dowell highly.

Kieran Dowell enjoyed a good season on a personal level at Nottingham Forest in 2017-18, and the Everton attacking midfielder is having a strong summer as well.

Dowell, who scored nine goals and provided four assists in 31 Championship starts for Forest during the 2017-18 season, has won the Toulon Tournament with England in France this summer.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder scored the winner in the final of the tournament for the England Under-21 side against their Mexican counterparts at the weekend.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of Dowell and wants new manager Marco Silva to give the youngster a chance in the first team next season.

Anderson, who is an Everton fan, has also compared the England Under-21 international to Manchester United’s legendary midfielder Bryan Robson.

Robson, a former England international, was on the books of United from 1981 until 1994, and won the Premier League twice and the FA Cup thrice with the Red Devils.
