Shelvey featured for Newcastle in the Premier League game against United at home on Sunday afternoon.
The 25-year-old midfielder started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Magpies won the match 1-0 at St. James’ Park.
The former Charlton Athletic and Liverpool midfielder gave a very mature performance, as the England international controlled the ball well and showed composure against one of the best teams in England.
Former Newcastle forward Allon was following the match, and the 51-year-old was impressed with the performance of Shelvey.
Needs consistency
Shelvey is one of the best and most talented players on the books of Newcastle at the moment.
The issue with the former Liverpool midfielder is that he is not consistent, and fans will want to see him perform like he did against United for the rest of the season.
