Understandably, it was a big moment for the right-back, who took to Instagram to express his gratitude at the opportunity.
Former Chelsea coach Morris posted a message in the comments section to the 20-year-old by saying: ‘Congrats Marcel… well-done mate’.
Watford midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah wrote ‘big, big, big’ added with fire emojis, whilst several other players such as Max Aarons, Billy Gilmour and Ryan Sessegnon sent their congratulations to the defender.
Now, the acid test for Lavinier is to push for more minutes in Tottenham’s senior team and for a position that has been pretty shaky this season.
As for Tottenham, it’s keeping up their hopes of lifting a trophy alive this season and distracting people away from their Premier League form.
It’s going to be pretty tough for Spurs to secure Champions League football via the Premier League, but it would be something if they did it by winning the Europa League.
Mourinho has history of winning the Europa League and the League Cup in one season – his previous job – and that’s what he is on course in doing once again.
