The US Open represented another intriguing major championship for LIV Golf, which had 13 players start the event.

However, just six of those 13 made the cut at Shinnecock Hills, with Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm among those failing to make the weekend.

It was a really bad look for LIV Golf, with DeChambeau and Rahm undoubtedly their two most high-profile players.

But LIV Golf was somewhat rescued by Joaquin Niemann and Tyrrell Hatton, who deserve credit for their superb displays at the US Open.

Joaquin Niemann and Tyrrell Hatton shame Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm

It was a very testing week for the entire field at Shinnecock Hills, where only the top three players finished under par.

Wyndham Clark clinched the title on four-under, but both Niemann and Hatton battled very hard to secure top 10 finishes.

Both LIV Golf players finished their challenging weeks in Long Island on one-under, leaving them in a tie for seventh place.

In stark contrast, DeChambeau and Rahm shamed LIV Golf as they missed the cut on five-over and six-over respectively.

Both DeChambeau and Rahm are former US Open winners and multiple major champions, but were nowhere near good enough to make the weekend at Shinnecock.

Joaquin Niemann and Tyrrell Hatton rewarded for US Open top 10s

Niemann and Hatton will now look to continue their momentum from Shinnecock Hills into the remainder of the LIV Golf season.

They can, however, be forgiven for celebrating their impending appearances in the next edition of the US Open.

Their T7 finishes in New York have just secured their places at the major in 2027, which will take place at the iconic Pebble Beach.

And that is another chance for Hatton to shine on the big stage, with the Englishman deserving particular credit.

Demonstrating superb consistency, Hatton has just claimed his fourth top 10 finish in his 11 major starts since moving to LIV Golf.

He did miss the cut at the PGA Championship last month, but that arrived shortly after a superb T3 finish at The Masters.

It is indeed also worth noting the superb resilience from Niemann, who just recorded his best-ever major finish.

The Chilean recovered from a septuple bogey 11 in round one after a two-stroke penalty for throwing his club, and is perhaps left wondering what could have been had he played the hole differently.
