Marco Silva’s Everton beat Gor Mahia in a friendly on Tuesday.

Joao Virginia has posted on Twitter after making his debut for Everton in the Sport Pesa Trophy against Kenyan side Gor Mahia, a match which The Toffees won 4-0 – and fans have reacted on Twitter.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper joined the club from Arsenal’s youth academy in the summer window, after making 37 appearances for the Gunners’ under-18 sides.
He has been installed as The Toffees’ Under-23 goalkeeper this season, making five appearances for David Unsworth’s side including a penalty shoot-out loss to Bradford City in the EFL Trophy.
Virginia made his debut, though the match was not considered competitive, against Gor Mahia and the goalkeeper posted on Twitter afterwards – speaking of his delight at turning out in front of a Goodison Park crowd.
Portugal Under-21 international Virginia watched on as he kept a clean sheet, with Ademola Lookman, Kieran Dowell, Nathan Broadhead and Oumar Niasse all finding the back of the net.
Everton fans reacted to Virginia’s Tweet, with many hoping to see him feature for the first time in the not too distant future, while one fan described the 6ft 3in stopper as “too small”.
