Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers will have to pay €60 million (£51.26m) for Joao Palhinha, according to Record.

What’s the story?

It has been reported by Record that Premier League trio Tottenham, Everton and Wolves are among the clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are also interested in the defensive midfielder.

Sporting Lisbon do not want to sell Palhinha.

The Portugal international defensive midfielder has a release clause of €60 million (£51.26m).

So, if Tottenham, Everton or Wolves want to sign Palhinha, then they have to pay his full release clause of €60 million (£51.26m).

Is Joao Palhinha worth £50m+?

A player is worth what a club are willing to pay for him.

Palhinha is 26 now and has his best years ahead of him.

However, the Portugal international has really not made a lot of appearances for Sporting so far in his career.

The defensive midfielder was on loan at Belenenses and Braga in recent seasons.

Palhinha did play regularly at Braga, as he did at Sporting last season.

The midfielder scored one goal in 32 league appearances for Sporting in 2020-21.

The release clause of €60 million (£51.26m) does sound a lot, and perhaps Wolves, Tottenham and Everton should not pay it this summer.
