The Portugal international completed his loan switch to West Ham United yesterday.

Hammers new-boy Joao Mario sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, after officially completing his loan switch to the London Stadium, and shared what Jose Fonte told him before he made the move to east London.
The Portugal international joined on loan from Inter Milan for the rest of the season yesterday, and his undoubted quality is expected to give West Ham a huge boost during the remainder of their campaign.

Mario is a central midfielder by trade, but can also play in a more advanced role behind the striker or on either flank, and that could prove to be vital with Manuel Lanzini currently out injured.
The 25-year-old spoke exclusively to the club’s official website yesterday, and declared his love for West Ham, whilst opening up on what Jose Fonte told him about the club before he completed his switch:

“Jose tried to explain to me everything about the Club and that, of course, it was really important for me to join West Ham. I also spoke with the coach once and for me, I am really happy to be training for an amazing coach, also.”
The Hammers face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup later this afternoon, before their crucial Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Thursday, and David Moyes will be hoping that Mario hits the ground running, as he looks to guide his side away from trouble and into the top 10.
