Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United side had reportedly been chasing Javier Pastore.

Sky Sports have reported that Javier Pastore wants £190,000-a-week to join West Ham United, and that should just make signing Joao Mario even more appealing for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

West Ham have been assessing their options this summer, as Pellegrini looks to add creativity to his squad.

PSG’s Pastore has been placed on the Hammers’ wishlist, but agreeing a deal is proving complicated.

The Argentine wants to become West Ham’s highest paid player, and his wage demands are simply too high to consider.

West Ham should now see the deal they potentially have on offer, if they do go for Mario.

The Portuguese attacking midfielder is not asking for anywhere near as much money as Pastore, and he has already proven his quality.

Mario showed he could be an effective weapon for West Ham over the past campaign, following his move to the London Stadium in January.

The 25-year-old was a key part of David Moyes’ side, and has been made available by Inter this summer for £26 million, according to the London Evening Standard.

West Ham may have to pay a sizeable fee to land the attacking midfielder, but Pastore’s demands prove just how hard finding a player of equal quality will be.

And Pellegrini should now have seen another piece of evidence to suggest that Mario would be a valuable addition to his squad for next term.
