Rangers defender Jon Flanagan is ahead of schedule with his rehab from surgery.

Flanagan had to undergo a minor hernia operation at the start of the month, ruling him out of pre-season preparations and the Gers’ initial steps in the UEFA Europa League qualifying process.
Gerrard, happy that the player is returning ahead of schedule, is now hoping to give the defender game time in order to have him fit and ready to go for the kick-off of the Scottish Premiership season on August 4th.
The Ibrox boss told Rangers.co.uk: “Jon Flanagan is progressing really well; he is probably ahead of schedule. I think the plan if he continues to progress is that he will be back in full training in just over a week.
“So we will try and get some game time to Jon in a couple of weeks and hopefully he will be ready for the start of the season from a domestic point of view.”
Arriving on a free transfer last summer, the 26-year-old ended up being an important part of Rangers’ season.

Naturally a right-back, he found himself often covering for Croatian international left-back Borna Barisic who had a whole host of fitness problems throughout 2018/19.
In total the former Liverpool man played 30 matches and will likely be called upon again plenty over the next 12 months.
Important for Rangers then that he gets up to speed as quickly as possible, especially since a schedule of mid-week to weekend matches could be on the cards well into the Autumn if Gerrard’s side do well in Europe.
