Leicester City have rejected an improved offer from Fulham for Liam Moore.
It was well documented that Fulham made a £2m bid for Leicester City defender Liam Moore last week. The Foxes said they had no intention of selling the highly-rated youngster.
They have reaffirmed that stance today with Fulham having a second offer rejected. It is unknown what the value of the second offer from The Cottagers was, but Nigel Pearson told Radio Leicester “We’ve had a couple of bids that we have turned down for Liam.“
Liam Moore has played in 22 of Leicester’s 25 games so far this season and with the Foxes currently on course for promotion to the Premier League they are unlikely to want to let one of their key players leave in January. They currently have the best goal difference in the Championship and would not want to disrupt their defence.
Nigel Pearson went on to say that any bids made for his players will not be welcome. Kasper Schmeichel who is out of contract in the summer is the reported target of Italian giants AC Milan. As well as Schmeichel, David Nugent and nine other players are out of contract in the summer, and he hopes deals can be concluded as soon as possible. “The speculation continues and we just have to deal with it. It is our intention to keep the squad together“
As for Fulham they have clearly struggled in defence this year, especially when Brede Hangeland has been unavailable. They have conceded 48 goals in the league, ten more than anyone else. Therefore it is surprising to see them going for a 20-year-old defender who is untested in the top flight. Perhaps one for the future yes, but that isn’t a priority right now for Rene Meulensteen.
