Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham had landed himself in hot water after speaking to French media.

The Scottish Sun reports that Celtic manager Neil Lennon has brought midfielder Olivier Ntcham back into the fold after clear-the-air talks at the club’s Lennoxtown training ground.

The Frenchman spoke to L’Equipe last week criticising the standard of opposition in Scotland, also revealing he was unhappy not to have joined Porto during last summer’s transfer window.

They were comments that drew criticism from his manager, but the Hoops boss has confirmed the drama is no longer an issue.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Lennon said: “We have had a nice chat – a private chat – and it’s not an issue now.

“He is back in the group and training and getting ready for the new season.”

Although the Hoops boss is clearly now playing down the issue, it would have been fascinating to see how that interaction played out between the duo, with Lennon making it clear last week he would be having strong words with the former Manchester City man.

Ntcham is a talented player and has made 85 appearances in two seasons at the club, scoring 15 goals from midfield.

However, his attitude has been called into question, with Sutton declaring him “bang average” last season.

It appeared he was at a crossroads in his Celtic career with Lennon preferring a combination of Scott Brown, Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor in central midfield.

Perhaps though this latest episode has allowed Lennon and his player to reach more of an understanding.

If Ntcham stays beyond this transfer window he could play an important squad role throughout the 2019/20 season.
