Swansea failure Bob Bradley’s new job under Vincent Tan

Ex-Swansea City manager Bob Bradley has been named the first man to take charge of Los Angeles FC, a club where Cardiff owner Vincent Tan has a stake

Bob Bradley is widely considered to be not only Swansea City’s worst ever Premier League manager, but one of the worst in Premier League history.

The American oversaw a woeful period during the 2016/17 season that resulted in The Swans accumulating just five points in 11 matches, losing seven times with only two wins in the process. He was promptly sacked after just 85 days in charge.

However, Bradley has secured his first job since that tumultuous spell in South Wales after being named Los Angeles FC’s first ever manager ahead of the new expansion franchise’s debut campaign in Major League Soccer in 2018. The club posted this video with the announcement:

Los Angeles FC’s existence was announced in October 2014, the conception of an ownership group comprised of businessmen and venture capitalists.

One of those businessmen and co-owners is Vincent Tan – infamously known for his controversial ownership of Swansea’s bitter South-Welsh rivals Cardiff City.

An infamously bewildering decision made by Tan was to change The Bluebirds kit from the traditional blue to red, angering most if not all of the Cardiff supporters.

It would be fair to say that Bradley is more suited to the game in his homeland, where he has enjoyed some success – guiding Chicago Fire to an MLS Cup and U.S Open Cup double in 1998, and claiming a second Open Cup in 2000.

The new role signals the 59-year-old’s first return to the the top tier of United States football since leaving Chivas USA for the USMNT head coach role in 2006 – Bradley’s reign was mainly positive and he remained in the position until 2011.

His disaster in British football aside, both Bradley and LAFC will be eagerly anticipating their respective new challenges as they strive forward into the world of MLS and franchise football.
