Jimmy Walker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Sunderland’s defeat to Portsmouth in the final of the Checkatrade Trophy at the weekend.
The final at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday afternoon finished 2-2 after extra time, and the Black Cats lost the shootout 5-4.
Former Sunderland goalkeeping coach Walker was following the match, and he has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment at the final result.
Sunderland will be disappointed at not being able to win the Checkatrade Trophy, but the Stadium of Light faithful can take solace in the fact that the final went to a penally shootout.
The Black Cats’ main aim this season is to clinch automatic promotion to the Championship, and they are very much on track to do just that.
Jack Ross’s side are fourth in the League One table at the moment with 73 points from 37 matches.
Sunderland are six points behind second-placed Barnsley, who have played 40 games, and 13 points behind leaders Luton Town, who have also played 40 matches.
