Dorrans was substituted on Tuesday night during Rangers clash against Aberdeen.
Rangers caretaker manager Jimmy Nicholl has suggested to BBC Sport that midfielder Graham Dorrans has played his last game this season, after coming off injured against Aberdeen.
The Gers drew 1-1 with Derek McInnes’ side, despite going behind to Kenny McLean’s penalty in the first half. However, Ross McCrorie scored a second-half equaliser at Pittodrie.
McCrorie’s excellent header kept Rangers’ second-place hopes alive, with one point separating the Gers and Aberdeen behind Celtic. A win over Hibernian on Sunday could see Rangers leapfrog the Dons, if they fail to beat Celtic.
But one negative from Tuesday night’s draw was the withdrawal of midfielder Dorrans, who Nicholl confirmed had left the ground on crutches and believes the injury has something to do with his knee ligaments.
“It looks like knee ligaments, so he [Dorrans] is away with the walking sticks. It’s not looking great for Graham for the weekend,” Nicholl said.
“We’ve got Ross suspended and Alfredo suspended, so we’ve got a wee bit of work to do to get a team out on the park to get at them.”
Though former West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City midfielder Dorrans has impressed when given the chance to shine, the 11-time Scotland international has been limited to just 20 appearances in all competitions.
He has scored five goals and turned provider on a further four occasions, but he is beginning to develop a reputation of being injury prone. The Gers have had little luck in central midfield, with Jordan Rossiter and Ryan Jack also suffering from injury.
Dorrans is now likely to miss Sunday’s clash against Hibernian at Ibrox, in a must-win encounter if the Gers are to finish second with Aberdeen going up against Brendan Rodgers’ Scottish champions.
