Queens Park Rangers were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland in the EFL Cup yesterday.

Queens Park Rangers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has told West London Sport that he encouraged his players after their defeat to Sunderland in the EFL Cup last night.
Hasselbaink rotated his team for the visit of the Premier League side, but Rangers still managed to compete well.
The R’s actually had the lead, after Sandro struck, but two late goals from Paddy McNair ensured that Sunderland would progress.
And Hasselbaink said: “We had 11 good performances. I told the players that if we’re going to lose, this is how to lose.

“We showed hunger and commitment and we were almost there. Now we are going to keep on working and improving.
“I asked my players to give me a very difficult selection for the next games and that is what they have done.”
QPR have been in poor form in recent weeks, meaning Hasselbaink does now face a selection headache.

The R’s have failed to win either of their last two Championship matches, and the fringe players have certainly given Hasselbaink something to think about.
QPR’s next match comes against a Birmingham City who have started the season impressively at Loftus Road.
Rangers are currently in 16th place in the Championship table, and they are under pressure to start moving up the standings.
