As Chelsea’s summer transfer window unfolds, scrutiny has only grown, especially with how strong other clubs’ recruitment has looked.
It’s well known by now that Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, and the rest of the ownership group have poured vast sums into new signings – some of whom might never actually make an appearance at Stamford Bridge.
There was also talk that Chelsea tried to intervene in Manchester United’s deal for Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, though the club publicly dismissed those suggestions.

It should be said, though, that the Cameroon forward has adapted well to life at a resurgent United side, scoring eight goals in the league so far.
Playing on the right of attack, comparisons have been made to Pedro Neto, who joined the Blues for £54m back in 2024 (BBC Sport).
In an interview with talkSPORT, former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was asked to rank Premier League wide men and chose Neto over Mbeumo.
The ex-Blue also ranked the Portugal international higher than Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish, Rayan Cherki and Anthony Gordon.
Pedro Neto has fallen out of favour at Chelsea in recent months
Neto played a regular role under Enzo Maresca, and nothing has changed with Liam Rosenior now in charge.
He has not scored in 11 Chelsea appearances, though, and his form is becoming a concern.
The growing pressure on Neto is also due to Estevao Willian’s emergence. The young Brazilian forward has been showing promise since breaking into the first team this season.
Given Garnacho’s current run of form on the left, keeping him in the side seems sensible. And with Estevao pushing for more minutes, Neto’s place in the lineup could be under threat.
