Sunderland are set to take on Queens Park Rangers in the EFL Cup tomorrow.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has confirmed at his press conference today that he intends to make changes to his Queens Park Rangers team for their EFL Cup match against Sunderland, as per the Black Cats’ official website.

QPR go into the match at the Stadium of Light on a poor run of form, which has seen them fail to win any of their last three matches.

Rangers first could only collect a draw with struggling Blackburn Rovers, before they slipped to defeats against Newcastle United and Huddersfield Town.

The losses have put some pressure on Hasselbaink, but the Dutch boss insists that he will still take some chances with his team selection at the Stadium of Light.

“We will be fielding a competitive side but this match will also give players who have been on the bench recently the opportunity to show what they can do for the team,” he said.

QPR currently sit in 16th place in the Championship table, meaning they travel to Wearside without much momentum.

However, an upset could still be on the cards as Sunderland have also struggled for form this term.

David Moyes’ side are still on the look out for their first Premier League victory this season – with their only win to date coming against Shrewsbury Town in the last round of the EFL Cup.
