West Ham United are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, after a disappointing start to the season.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 5th December, that West Ham United need to stick by Slaven Bilic.

Bilic is now the second favourite with the bookies to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

The Croatian has come under pressure, after West Ham fell to a 5-1 defeat against Arsenal in their latest outing.

The Hammers are now in 17th place in the Premier League table, after a highly disappointing start to the season.

And Bilic was pulling no punches in his post-match interview, following his side’s defeat to Arsenal.

Bilic stated that West Ham lacked intensity in training, and that was causing them to play badly on matchdays.

Hasselbaink, who was recently sacked as manager of Queens Park Rangers, believes that Bilic’s honesty is to be admired.

He said: “He has to be honest, and that’s a start. He needs to stay on top of it. The new stadium hasn’t helped, and the atmosphere has gone. They need to find a new way.

“He has a big job on his hands, but for me he is a top manager and West Ham need to trust him. He’s a fighter, I know him personally, and I know he is saying this [that the intensity is lacking in training] for a reason.”

West Ham are currently just one point above the relegation zone, with the London side now looking nervously over their shoulders.

Bilic’s next match looks to be a tough one too, as they have to go to Anfield and face high flying Liverpool.
