Bilic is reported to have turned down an approach from West Bromwich Albion after leaving West Ham United at the start of this month.
Jim White has provided West Bromwich Albion fans with an update on the Baggies’ search for a new manager, and shared what he’s heard about the former West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic.
West Brom sacked Tony Pulis on Monday morning and have been strongly linked with a move for another ex-West Ham manager, Alan Pardew.
The Telegraph reported on Thursday however, that Pardew is not West Brom’s only target, with an approach for Bilic made and subsequently turned down by the 49-year-old.
But according to White, speaking on his Talksport show on Friday morning, the Bilic speculation is somewhat wide of the mark.
“There has been no approach, as I understand it, for Slaven Bilic,” said the Scot. “The facts are, there are a couple of potential meetings are lined up for the back end of this weekend, with a couple of candidates.
“I’ve no names for you, but it’s not Bilic, I know that.”
Bilic was sacked by West Ham at the start of this month, but is understood to have, according to the Telegraph, indicated it is too early for him to return to management.
Pardew, who remains odds-on favourite for the West Brom post, left Crystal Palace in December 2016 and has also managed Charlton Athletic and Newcastle United at Premier League level since leaving West Ham 11 years ago.
