Jim White has shared that someone ‘close to the takeover’ at Newcastle expect Steve Bruce to be in the dugout for Sunday’s game against Tottenham, as he told talkSPORT (12/10/21 at 10:15 am).

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) took charge of Newcastle last Thursday, and since then, it has been absolute mayhem in the North East.

Ever since the Saudi’s transferred the money into Mike Ashley’s account, rumours have been rife that Bruce could be out of the Newcastle door.

Sky Sports have reported that they don’t expect Bruce to be in charge when Newcastle welcome Spurs to St James’ Park at the weekend.

But in a possible twist, talkSPORT host White, has shared that Bruce will ‘more than likely’ be in the dugout for Sunday, after speaking to someone last night.

“An individual close to the takeover spoke to me last night,” said White. “I can’t reveal the name.

“But maybe don’t expect a change in the Newcastle technical area before Sunday and that Steve Bruce will more than likely be in the technical area come Sunday.

“Then this morning, some within the football club, were in the dark themselves and they were saying ‘look, we don’t know. Let’s see what today brings’.”

If Bruce does take charge against Spurs then it will be his 1000th game in management and it comes with the added drama.

Newcastle fans are in party mode after the takeover and the scenes, both outside and inside the stadium, are going to be one of celebration.

But if the team doesn’t perform then there is only one man that will receive the flak and that’s Bruce himself.

It’s illogical to part ways with Bruce now, unless there is someone to take charge straightaway.

But given how quickly all of this happened, those now running the ship need time to find a new face, and in the meantime, even if it takes a few weeks, it’s best to keep Bruce before bringing in the right individual for the job.
