Dundee manager Jim McIntyre has told The Scottish Sun that more discussions with Rangers are imminent about a deal for Glen Kamara this month.

Dundee snapped up Kamara in the summer of 2017 having been released by Arsenal, and it’s fair to say that they have given a real platform to succeed.

The 23-year-old has become one of the top midfielders in the Scottish Premiership, whilst he now has seven caps and one goal for the Finland national team.

Kamara has attracted interest off the back of his displays for Dundee, and Rangers have already won the race for his signature by signing him to a pre-contract agreement.

With Kamara’s Dundee contract expiring this summer, Rangers have managed to swoop in and land Kamara for free ahead of next season, but is still set to see out the season at Dens Park.

That may be about to change though. Dundee boss McIntyre has admitted that he would rather agree a cash deal with Rangers for Kamara to head to Ibrox now, rather than risk him being uncommitted for the rest of the season, adding that discussions about such a deal will take place.

“He has signed a pre-contract with Rangers and that’s where it lies at the moment,” said McIntyre. “Ideally you would like to agree something because I think when a player decides to move — again it depends on what sort of mentality they have got — are they strong enough to stay and play? We will have more discussions. That’s all I can say,” he added.

In truth, this deal appears to be imminent now. Kamara has returned from international duty with Finland, as reported by STV, with Rangers seemingly close to a deal – and McIntyre’s quotes suggest Dundee are willing to discuss an immediate move.
