Dundee manager Jim McIntyre has been quoted by BBC Sport as saying that he wants Rangers to sign midfielder Glen Kamara this month, with a pre-contract already agreed.

Kamara, 23, has joined Steven Gerrard’s side on a deal that will see him move to Ibrox in the summer, along with Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones. Both players contracts were expiring in the summer.

That allowed Rangers to sign both Kamara and Jones under the Bosman ruling, which gives players the chance to sort out their futures six months early by signing a contract with another club – and then joining that side in the summer.

McIntyre was asked about Kamara, who is set to remain with Dundee until June before joining Rangers. He said that he would rather the ex-Arsenal midfielder just left Dens Park for Ibrox now.

“I know Glen would rather move on and I think it is best for all parties,” McIntyre said. “It is difficult for a player to focus on the job in hand when he knows he is going somewhere else.”

The nine-time Finland international has made 18 league and cup appearances for Dundee this season, captaining the side on three occasions. He has played 64 times in total for the Dark Blues.

Rangers have an abundance of central midfield talent after Gerrard brought Steven Davis back to Ibrox. The likes of Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Jordan Rossiter, Ross McCrorie, Lassana Coulibaly and Graham Dorrans are also optons.

Kamara is likely to be above Rossiter and Dorrans in the pecking order, but whether he will move to Ibrox this month remains another question.
